Emmaus Merseyside’s New Hub Launched

On the 29^th of November 2024 Emmaus Merseyside welcomed guests to the launch this new facility. Sir Terry Waite, President of Emmaus UK, opened the building, along with representatives from The Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation in attendance.

It is a modern, professional, and welcoming space, designed to serve both Emmaus Merseyside residents and the local community.  The hub will facilitate training and personal development for Emmaus residents, featuring a café supported by Crosby Coffee Roasters, from which they can gain valuable work experience.

Marc Bamber, Chief Executive Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “The opening of our new Hub was a very proud moment for everyone involved with our charity. I want to give huge thanks to the companions, volunteers, trustees and staff at Emmaus Merseyside for their hard work in bringing this new facility to life, and to everyone who attended to share this milestone with us.”

As well as serving drinks, cakes, and light refreshments made by the residents for the wider community, the Hub will be a new shared space for interaction, learning, personal development and improved wellbeing.

There are 30 Emmaus communities across the UK providing support to more than 850 formerly homeless people. Emmaus’ work focuses on helping people regain their self-esteem and rebuild their lives through personal development and growth.

As they say of themselves, they don’t just give people a bed for the night, they offer opportunities, and a sense of belonging.

From their purpose-built centre in Seaforth, Emmaus Merseyside offers award winning support to people who have experienced homelessness, whether that be accommodation, education, employment, or training opportunities.
