Special Needs and Parent Support (Yorkshire)
8 January 2024
Special Needs and Parent Support (SNAPS) operates sports sessions for young people with additional or special needs and their siblings, delivered at their two Leeds centres. The programme is designed to benefit the participants physical and mental wellbeing, including swimming lessons and water safety as well as football.
For those that take part, the development of muscle tone and coordination can lead to pain reduction and increased confidence. The work will also build a network of support and friends for the individuals and their families.
By January 2023, SNAPS had recorded 41 children attending football sessions; 22 children attending swimming lessons; and 56 participants had received a SNAPS Superkids Award.
